What ended up happening was the quest forced Sturgia, Vlandia, and the Aserai to become locked in war with me because they wanted to stop me from using the banner to unite the Empire and take over the land.The only reason I'd want a Companion army is to level Leadership, to finally get that sweet, sweet Disciplinarian perk and make Imperial Elite Cataphracts out of Looters. But you can't do that unless you join a kingdom first. The game needs this badly. #3.An easy way to get a clan in your kingdom is to look at the minor clans and see which ones aren't being bought by a bigger kingdom.
