Apr 14, 2004 · How would you rank these places for heme-onc: Loyola, Rush, UIC, Northwestern, UofC? If I do end up pursing the IM/Heme-onc route, I would like to work in a suburban hospital. While I am still undecided between IM and EM, my heart still wants to do some sort of oncology. My wife really wants to be in Chicago, it's where both our families are. On call 1 weekday (m-th) per week and one weekend out of 5. Call is busy and usually leads to working pretty late. This is in a major costal US city. Another group practice: Works 8-5 in office M-Th and 8-noon on Friday, except when on call 1x per week (M-Th). On those days work is very late (10-midnight or later).3 hem/onc docs I know, work 4 days a week but plus they cover consult like ~10weeks/yr. Dr#1 has private office, infusion center, about 10yrs in business, everything runs smoothly. 2nd. Private office but no infusion center, about retiring age. 3rd.
