Yesterday, got out around 4PM by the Selfridge DNR Launch. Lots of people fishing all around the launch, in the channel and up to 50 yds from shore.You need to purchase an annual pass for $13 when you buy with your truck license plate or $18 if you buy at a ramp. Non-residents may still purchase a daily pass for $11, or an annual for $40. The pass is also accepted at all Michigan State Parks, Recreation Areas, and State Forest Campgrounds. We only keep eight inches and up and we had some beautiful slab perch this year. Also took some very nice Pike caught off smaller perch under bobbers.

A fresh wave of fat pre-spawn male smallmouth bass pulled up on Lake St. Clair last week. Lots of 2.75-3.5lb fish with occasional four pounders mixed in. Lots of numbers right now on shallow flats in 5-9 ft of water, feeding on small 2-3” perch (see picture).1) Where the main channel makes a bend and the current sweeps up onto the flat - the fish will be on the shallow flat in 3 - 5 FOW. Spinnerbaits or a jerkbait will find them quick. 2) Birds - where the small terns are - not seagulls. They will be there for the minnows - just like the smallmouth.
