It's a legitimate organization for academically advanced students, it allows you to apply for scholarships, find college advisors, gives you discounts for test preps, and offers academic tours and volunteer and internship opportunities. It's a scam. If it costs money and advertises "prestige", then it's probably a scam/doesn't help with acceptance. It won't give you a scholarship just for joining, but they offer scholarship opportunities. In addition, they offer meet-ups across the country so you could connect with other NSHSS members.
