Aug 3, 2023 · In the spring, the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area in central Kansas looked like a giant desert. Amid a second year of drought, the largest inland wetland in the United States was completely dry, save for a few scattered puddles. The situation has improved somewhat since then, thanks to several rains in July.
