Jan 31, 2012 · Since the late ’90s, Pentecost, along with a number of artists such as those associated with the Critical Art Ensemble, have sought to use art to politicize and create public knowledge around the production, distribution, and consumption of food. Higher Pictures presents Linnaeus After Dark, a new body of work by the artist and writer Claire Pentecost.This is Pentecost's second exhibition with the gallery. Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778), the Swedish botanist known as the "father of modern taxonomy," famously invented a Latin naming system for all plants and animals which allowed them to be classified into clearly demarcated categories.
