I guarantee that your opponent has a very similar experience to you - getting hit outside of the range of a weapon is just normal for DS2 pvp. Mind you, some weapons have it worse than others. It's kind of like a percentage increase - if a weapon has a good range normally, the phantom range will seem larger than another weapon with lower range.Depends on whether you think a weaker counter strike bonus is worth the option of a slashing attack and a little bit of shield piercing. Rapier is ridiculous. Just started a fresh characte Ds3 and Elden Ring are much more timing and pressure focused. Time your rolls, push them to prevent healing, and measure when they roll to hit. DS2 feels a lot more about stamina management and weapon speed.
