For shops, it's basically the same type of shops you'll see in any cruise port, with some exceptions of "local" items in various kiosks. Many "local" items aren't local. I think there are now 2 restaurants in the port complex, one's a Senor Frog's (very over priced from mediocre stuff). The beach at Costa Maya Port, looking toward the cruise ship pier. Xcalak is approximately 60 kilometers (37 mi) south of the Costa Maya cruise port, and the fishing village of Mahahual is only about 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) away. Shopping area near ship very nice and there is a pool there. Cozumel much better for beaches and shopping. I wish they would replace Costa Maya wth another port. This is why it’s so important to get different perspectives. Costa Maya is perhaps our favorite beach port for many of the reasons crewsweeper mentioned.2.
