An Ohmmeter from spring pig tail to stud on top of coil will show ~2.5 Ohms on 12v coil & ~0.5 to 1.0 Ohm on 6v coil. The heavy wire from the starter solenoid (battery terminal) to the ammeter goes to the "B" terminal on the ammeter. The wire from the other side of the ammeter ("L" terminal) should go to the terminal block. From there ALL electrical loads should come out the other side of the terminal block.

If you invest in a square 12V coil (recommended) you do not need the extra resistor. Get the better OEM 2-wire key switch, cloth covered, not vinyl exposed wires. p/n ...
