Turn the screw counterclockwise and clockwise 1/2 a turn from the middle position and listen to the sound of the idle. Set the screw in the position where the engine's idle sounds most even and smooth to balance the fuel mixture.Save the carb adjustments for last. If the rest isn't right, the carb can't do it's job. Easy test of the governor, engine off, set the dash lever to full speed, look at the position of the throttle. It should be in the wide open position. Then start the engine, move the dash lever from idle to sudden full throttle.

If you happen to notice this, it could be due to a lean or rich fuel mixture.Find where the jets are, and open it up so you can get to them. Then take a thin piee of wire and poke it through the jet to knock out any junk in there. Rinse it with carb cleaner, put back together, and it should be good to go. According to the service manual, the float should be set at 1 5/16. To check it, I set the carb upside down and measured from the bottom of the top half of the carb to the bottom of the float.
