In the AR10 platform, it is unsafe to load the .308 in a 7.62x51mm chamber but the .308 chamber can accept the 7.62x51mm loads. Similarly, you can load .223 cartridges in a 5.65 x 45 chamber of the AR15 but not the inverse. When fired from my Krieger barreled AR-15s, this load has produced ½ MOA 10-shot groups at 100 yards. The three, 10-shot groups fired in a row from the Criterion 16" CORE barrel from a distance of 100 yards had the following extreme spreads: 1.15". 1.09". 1.13". for an average 10-shot group extreme spread of 1.12".FYI. Carbine buffer tubes are a different story. Armalites AR-10 Buffer tube is longer than the AR-15 Buffer tube. So do not use a AR-15 Carbine Buffer tube on a 308 platform unless you use the above listed Slash buffer, which works really well.
Oct 2, 2023 · I have the AR10 Diamond flat in the MR762A1 and the AR15 Diamond in the LMT 308 MWS, both operate perfectly. In my opinion the AR10 Diamond may be better if using "less than good" ammo, but I've not experienced any mis-fires/light strikes in the LMT so it is purely speculation based on the extra weight the AR10 hammer has.
