Famotidine tablets are a histamine-2 (H 2) receptor antagonist indicated ( 1 ): In adult and pediatric patients 40 kg and greater for the treatment of: • active duodenal ulcer (DU). • active gastric ulcer. • symptomatic nonerosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). • erosive esophagitis due to GERD, diagnosed by biopsy.Post-hoc analysis revealed a higher incidence of > 20% drop in platelet count in the study group compared with the controls (23%; 95% CI = 19 - 27% versus 11%; 95% CI = 8 - 14%, respectively; p < 0.001). This study failed to demonstrate an increased incidence of thrombocytopenia for patients treated with pantoprazole.
