Installed a new Gemini box yesterday. The remote will control volume and mute but will not turn on/off tv. It is a Vizio tv. Older but the old genie remote worked fine. Spoke with support. If power cord is secure on both ends (it removes from box) and you have tried multiple outlets (directly, not through a surge protector or power strip), then I agree it sounds dead.The receiver box produces a moderate amount of heat. If the box is sitting on a surface that is trapping the heat, the receiver will overheat and this can result in a frozen picture. The remote will not work until the receiver cools down. The DIRECTV remote will not work if the receiver is behind on any updates from DIRECTV.
